Going back to my SeaHome

Good afternoon everyone!
I am still currently in Canada, to be specific I am at Star bucks in Peterborough.
I leave Tapley 1/4 line at 10am tomorrow morning, not sure how if feel about it. Its been an interesting few weeks.
I can't say its been to relaxing between doing the OZ show and trying to see everyone I want to see. I guess   I knew that this day would come when i would be going back, but it just didn't feel real.
If i keep myself busy enough i don't have as much pain. I have 2 new pairs of glasses which prevents me from feeling as tired. Wouldn't say that it helps my pain in my head but it for sure helps me focus on things that i want to accomplish. Whether it be work, or watching a movie. I am so blessed to have gotten the chance to see my family and friends for most of December.
I will miss you all and stay tuned for pics of South America!

Hello!
Good Afternoon!
It is 5pm here, and I spent the whole day pretty much getting pampered I guess you could call it?
In italy the salons are much different then in Canada you have like 5 people doing your hair. Got my hair straightened, and trimmed and everything, so that my hair dresser michelle doesn't have such a disgusting task to deal with when i get home :) (wind damage)
Italy is actually quite chilly right now
I am going on a bike tour with daddy tomorrow!
Kerry- If i could eat gelato I would (dad and mom making up for me)- and oatmeal chocolate chip and raisin bran muffins :)
Aunt Karie- I am glad that everyone is busy with stuff!

The last sail was rough.
I was helming (steering) on a rough night i was harnist in but like there was 10 feet waves.
Its cool when you not working, if you just at the door watching, or you aren't on galley and you are trying to juggle plates and hold on the the hand ropes at the same time!

Departing Barcelona Spain

Hello Everyone it is 10:30 pm here
Hope everything is okay at home.
Been a weird couple days.
Despite being sick, Spain has been my favourite port yet.
I am beyond excited for Italy!!!!
Food from home, all the clothes that I asked mommy to pack that I am missing :)
I have some school work to do, so I have to make this short.
Just wanted to tell everyone that I am okay, I am having fun, but everyday is a new adventure.
This program isn't like anything I have ever experienced, not something everyone would be able to handle.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hello everyone!
We have just arrived in Barcelona Spain!

I am sorry I didn’t write you in Portugal I thought I did, but it appears it got deleted from my blog, anyways so ill try and repost it, but in the mean time how is everyone doing?

Hope all is well in Canada, or North America for that matter.

I am a little more homesick today then I normally am due to the fact that Thanksgiving is a huge deal in my family and everyone comes down and eats a lot of amazing food. I am missing mommy’s turkey and all the assortment of pies!

For the past couple days I have been exhausted I did someone else’s night watch and I was on galley, and when your on galley you only go to classes and galley and that is it, I did all the watches as well so my shunt has been pounding the last couple days due to the lack of sleep. We all hard core studied for our psychology quiz today, don’t know how well I’ll do on that, but who knows. The wind levels haven’t been that great so we are using the motor a lot which is so loud and gives me the biggest headache. My shunt is just trying to figure out how to cope so far I haven’t complained or even took Tylenol, maybe that’s a mistake but Spain will be amazing! I can’t wait to eat the amazing food, shop and sight see! Train is also performing tomorrow ah! (yes we might be going get excited for me!) Next sail is only a 3 day sail, and I am getting so much more excited for it because I get to see my parents! Ah so excited to see you mommy and daddy! I miss everyone a lot.

Grandma, and anyone who wrote me letters or would love to write me some please give them to Nora, mom, or dad the letters that were written I misplaced more like someone threw them out. I was pretty mad about that, so can you if it won’t take to much time write up some more pretty please? J

We had a swim call in the middle of the Mediterranean where we stopped the motor and everyone jumped off the boat it was so much fun! We probably won’t have another or if anyone maybe one more. The water has to be completely calm for this to occur due to safety reasons. We also weren’t anchored down so drifting can become and issue as well. Anyways it was so much fun, only problem was I just showered like an hour before then got incredibly salty, but oh well was worth it! I miss my bed have to say that I miss rolling over and not hitting the floor every time this occurs.

Hello Everyone!

Leaving tomorrow morning around 9am which is 2am your time.

It has been so much fun!

We had a delay for a day due to strikes regarding pensions and the locks are closed.

So we have been here an extra night.

Today I went the sweetest aquarium I have ever been to since marine land!

I have ate a lot (going to come back not so tiny) Everything’s expensive!

Spent a lot of Euro’s on food! Bought a lot of groceries.

Saw JUNO beach, and Mount Saint Michelle Abby and a couple other places

I am trying to remember all the stuff I did!

Ate a lot! Had a nut scare but I am okay and besides that its been relaxing.

Running in the morning around the old city.

I am going to for the world best hot chocolate right now

I will see you in Portugal!

Almost there!

Hello Everyone!

It’s September 18^th! So far the voyage has been rocky but so nice.

We hit a big squall (its pretty calm in the north sea)

This caused everyone or a large percentage of everyone getting really badly seasick.

 I wasn’t to bad I was just really homesick like sad for a bit not to bad. I only threw up once or twice not near as much as a lot of people here.  I can’t believe the actual waves we hit this week. I was on watch at night for a few hours and it was so cool. I mean like it looked like we were in the perfect storm! Ah! I know I mentioned this already in my previous postings but still! Weather is great now we will arrive in France (st. Malo) tomorrow! So excited I get to talk to some of you eat French baguette and Brie! I wish I didn’t have my stupid allergy. Today I had the first encounter of if people actually took my allergy seriously. There were almonds in a salad and the galley groups change everyday and they actually made me my own food I was so happy and excited I don’t think you actually understand how much J

So anyways I am about to head to Geography class, so far I don’t really like it I love my psychology class and my history class cause its so easy cause I have already done the work but Geo not to sure if I like the teaching methods we shall see only been a week or so of classes!  Any who I shall be back hopefully tonight if not signing off!

Hey again

I have never accumulated so much information about the biosphere, lithosphere, atmosphere, and astrophysical sphere in my life! Holy crap! We were doing a bunch of review today since we have like a quiz kind of thing next week. Tomorrow we arrive in France! Woot! Everyone is beyond excited! We are all excited for food Internet café, and port shopping! I’ll try to pick up a few little things like post cards in every port.

I am going to say this now, mom the journal thing won’t work.

These random postings will have to do.

If there is something I want to remember I shall write it down. Days are pretty much the same besides when we are at port.

I was helming for a couple hours with a girl named Natasha who was on class afloat last year when it sank. We talked the whole time it was nice.

Mommy I miss snacking constantly.

I will be coming home bigger (not looking forward to that) need to invest in going to the gym everyday when I get home (you have to make me please and thank you!)

Its hard to even figure out how much you should or shouldn’t eat. We do fitness but not yet cause of the weather, its nice now so depending on what watch group you are in that will depend when you have fitness. I need a good work out so badly.

Moving on… My emotions are intact if that makes any sense. I am over the home sick hump I guess. It comes in waves.

Today I read a book of quotes daddy bought in Norway and he wrote throughout it and so I cried a bit reading it today just cause of what was in it (very heartfelt)

Sorry for those of you who don’t want to read the kind of stuff but oh well.

So tomorrow when I get to France and will be talking to some of you guys its kind of a special day its 10 months with Todd tomorrow (very exciting J) love u xo

AT SEA!

Hello Everyone!

So my last posting was on Saturday the 12^th and it was in Daddy’s hotel room back in Norway. I am currently on the 4^th days coming to the 5^th night. Our current location is off the coast of the Netherlands. We got a little off course due to the huge storm that we encountered around Monday. If I could have shown you guys what It looked like you would have probably fell on the floor from either panic of we need get her home or just wow that looks cool! Anyways I tried getting a picture but it was to rough. I instead focused on keeping myself attached to the boat and did what I was told to do. (Be on lookout and be on fire watch). I don’t have a clue why I wasn’t terrified to be out there but I wasn’t which I thought was really weird. My friend Shannon and I were trying to figure out why we were scared. We thought it was so cool! I thought id go through what a typical day for you on the ship.

A day in the life of Jane at Sea

-       6:50 or 7am wake up ready for breakfast if you want it at 7am till 8am

-       8am meeting, morning announcements things like that

-       8:15 till 9am cleaning stations

-       9 am classes and day watches begin

-       You do day watch class and night watch ever day and night.

-       My night watch is 8-10 pm the best one but we switch off every 3 weeks.

-       8-10, then 10-12. Then 12-2, 2-4, then 4-6. There is also a 6-9am watch which also wouldn’t be as bad as some of them

-       Classes can run from 9am till 7pm but doesn’t mean you have class until then it just means that how long classes could go till.

-       You nap whenever you can and that works for your schedule.

Dinnertime soon! Food here is decent. Better then thought it was going to be. So I am going to try and write some more emails but most of you are attached or look at the blog so not to many to write! J

sorry its been a bit since i last wrote.
This one will be quick since i have a lot of stuff to do.
Hope everyone's first week of school was good :)
Or if not school then hope work is going well!
I don't have pictures of inside of the boat yet since I have been way to busy.
I won't forget I promise.
I am a little home sick actually a lot home sick, nights are the worst.
I have a lot of stuff to do before leaving daddy.

I am departing Norway tomorrow at 5:30 at night.

Tears, Nerves. and Some much needed sleep..

Good morning everyone!

Its actually afternoon here.
So last night was my last night staying in the hotel with daddy.
I am going to apologize for my panic texts to few of you.
I guess i realized last night that today was coming quicker then I wanted it too.
I didn't get to sleep till around 3am or later couldn't really tell you through the large headache I gave myself from crying myself to sleep.  I ended up calling mommy at around 2am our time because I was that homesick. I still am, but realize theres no point in just not trying.
This morning we woke up around 10 and headed to the boat met some cool people including teachers medical officer ect. The neat thing about where i am sleeping is I don't have to necessarily make me bed up every morning. You see our boat is so big and holds so many people, but the sleeping area is also were people take classes, so in that case people have to make sure they put everything away. I have never had to share a room before, besides Nora when we were little so I am a little nervous about that.
I got to thank Ray, and Jen for letting me borrow some cool movies and shows :) Thanks to everyone who told me last night or lately to relax and breathe. I was not breathing last night thats for sure.
I am back at the hotel right now, but am going back on ship in a few hours.

Good Evening!
Afternoon to you.
After arriving at the hotel we headed out to see how far the boat was from our hotel.
Surprisingly its like 2 mins. :) Its such a beautiful ship from a far! Can't wait to see it up close tomorrow!
I am getting more and more anxious but also at the same time I am extremely scared and nervous!
I don't know if its nerves, or just the long travel, but I haven't been feeling good at all today.
Hopefully i feel better tomorrow.
I forgot a couple things at home that mommy is shipping down to daddy's hotel. My teddy bear! Yes as much as you might think thats childish I need at least one of them!
Daddy and I are going to watch something now.

Oh! One funny thing that happened.
We have like 2 laptops here blackberries iPhones, ipods ect.
and cords up everywhere cause its Europe plugs are so annoying!
Anyways I noticed this weird smell coming from the desk, I look over the adapter is smoking and hissing at me. We put it out on the balcony ! lol!

The Journey Begins!

Good Morning all!
It is about 10am Amsterdam time and around 4am Canada time.
Our first flight was alright. Neither of us (dad and I) were very comfortable.
I fell asleep before we had even taken off which has never happened before.
I guess I was pretty tired. Saying goodbye to mommy and nora was sad and difficult. I ended up tearing up as i was going through security, but enough with the tears. When I went to go through security did the whole checking ours bags, shoes, and us ect. One of my bags was searched, go figure its me! Anyways they found a pair of kids scissors in my pencil case mom had packed me. I was like great... So thanks mommy :) I didn't even know where the pencil case was. hah!  Once we arrived in Amsterdam I was wiped. I went to sit on a couch thing and passed out for like 2 hours. I also had to purchase a new cord to connect my camera to my computer. (yes everyone jane the brilliant packer did not pack one of the most important items..) I got one though! We are now currently waiting to be called to board. It's about a 2 hour flight. Reminds me of flying to PEI :) However time to turn the electronics off, and get some more sleep on the plane!

Last good byes.

Good afternoon everyone!
Yesterday was a great day but also was way to sad!
woke up and then headed into Lakefield to have breakfast with my best friend Kelsey
Went to Hamlins like usual got the good morning special, said i was going to get french toast like usual but of course didn't.. We are probably the most indeciceve people in the world. Anyways spent awhile there and then headed to hand in University letters to Dr. Avery (might i add Kels was still with me). We also got me a one piece bathing suit, because I don't own one. We headed back to where her car was parked sat there for another good 20 minutes. Lots of hugs. Neither of us cried then, but as i drove back into Peterborough i started to ball. I later called her and she said she had done the same thing. She had also said she had cried all the way in. This subject came up because I had said when I arrived she was already sitting at the table waiting for me. "kels I have no make up on." thats okay i cried all mine off. Such a cutie! Going to miss u so much!


Another person I had to say goodbye to and that is a pretty special guy named Todd. 5 months sounds like a long time, and i guess it is. I love u a lot. Miss u already. Hope you have an amazing time at the wedding!  I know saying goodbye isn't  a fun thing to do, but last night was so much fun at ball, and then hanging out with the fam! :) So much also at Dayna's 20th! Love u leah and dayna!

Packing packing packing!!!!!

Hey  Everyone!
So i thought i'd write everyone in case i won't see you all before i head off in almost 3 days!
Yes i pretty much realized that today. Am i ready not even close. I have so much to pack in such a little space! I have my new Mac laptop and finished up most of my shopping yesterday with kathleen in toronto.
Got the last of my stuff today and enjoyed one of my last Timies runs with Ashley. Going to miss driving, but walking will do me some good. I think its starting to hit me about what I am actually about to embark on. I want to for warn you now. That I am not the most grammatically correct person, but most of you that know me well enough already knew that. I also won't to let everyone know ahead of time that i won't be regularly posting. When I have time i will write on the boat and post a few at a time. We shall see how this goes. Ironically even though i just said I had one of my last Timies runs, I am about to go out with a friend and go back for a tea :) Oh i am going to miss that tea! Bye for now.
